| Abstract Scope |
Magnesium alloys have been extensively investigated as absorbable metals for medical devices for more than 15 years and have seen limited clinical use for a decade. Though clinical results are very encouraging, significant work remains to enable this promising technology to reach its full potential. This talk will outline the present clinical landscape of magnesium devices, contrast the supply chains of traditional and magnesium-based implants, and review R&D efforts at Fort Wayne Metals to help usher in a world in which absorbable implants become the gold standard for a host of indications. |
