Abstract Scope |
The present investigation studied the synthesis and microstructural characterization of niobium and lanthanum-doped BaTiO3 (BT) synthesized by the Pechini method. Five samples of BaTiO3 adding 0, 1, 2, 3, and 6 wt.% of Nb5+ and La3+ were synthesized. As a result of the characterization tests, it was found in the TGA analysis, that the highest mass loss of the BT precursor resin powders occurs between 600° and 800° C; the XRD microstructural analysis indicates that the presence of dopant ions stabilizes the tetragonal phase of BT (JCPDS 96-210-0860); Rietveld refinement showed that the sample of BT with 3% Nb5+ and La3+ exhibited the highest percentage of BT ferroelectric tetragonal phase with 59.94% by weight, space group P4mm, and crystallite size of 250.05 Ả. On the other hand, the high-resolution SEM analysis showed that the samples of BT co-doped with 1, 2 and 3% Nb5+ and La3+ presented structures consisting of polyhedron-shaped particles and particle sizes below 100 nm, with a tendency to form agglomerates. |
