Abstract Scope |
Recently, the effect of Cu in combustion processes has boldly emerged with the drastic increase in the waste combustion and secondary metals smelting, sparking the need to develop thermodynamic databases for a better understanding and control. In the present work, we have reviewed content and sources of copper in biomass fuels and ashes, and examined the mechanisms through which it affects combustion processes and the environment. Phase relations of the main forms of copper in the high-temperature combustion processes, CuClx and CuSO4, were investigated, and their effects on the melting behavior of chlorides and sulfates of Na, K, Cu, Pb, Zn, and Fe were determined. All the studied systems were observed to be eutectic. The obtained results are presented and discussed. |
