Abstract Scope |
This study evaluates the physical and mechanical properties of Extruded, Pressed, and Fired Ceramic Blocks (EPFCB) made from red ceramics, produced using two different ceramic mass compositions. The clay soils were analyzed physically and chemically to correlate their properties with those of the EPFCB. The ceramic blocks were assessed according to the ABNT NBR 15270-1:2023 standard, considering geometric characteristics, water absorption index, and compressive strength. Two ceramic mass compositions were prepared, processed by extrusion (WD36) and hydraulic pressing (Eco Máquinas 7000), followed by drying and firing in a dome-type kiln. The production was carried out in partnership with Arte Cerâmica Sardinha. The results showed that the geometric characteristics of the EPFCB (both White and Red) comply with the standard. The White EPFCB exhibited better performance in terms of water absorption index and compressive strength compared to the Red EPFCB. |
