Abstract Scope |
In Pyrometallurgy one of the main parameters for the control and optimization of the process is the temperature. The techniques used to monitor temperature in metallurgical furnaces are pyrometers, thermocouples, and RTDs. New technologies that are more dynamic processes require continuous and precise measurement, but also high spatial resolution (more measurement points). A continuous measurement such as temperature profiles will help to control the temperature of the slag, metal, gases and detect refractory wear. It was carried out in the industry using fiber optics, a heat treatment furnace and with heat transfer calculations to obtain the internal temperature profile of the furnace. The furnace was wrapped with fiber optics and temperature measurements were taken every meter and minute. Results that the application of this technology will help to optimize furnace operations, reduce the downtime of this equipment and can be replicated in others. |
