Abstract Scope |
This study investigates the impact of printing orientation on the mechanical properties of Ti-6Al-4V samples produced via electron beam melting (EBM). Six rods were printed at various angles from vertical to horizontal to assess variations in mechanical response and deformation. Neutron scattering at the LANL HIPPO diffractometer was used to analyze texture differences from the print state to different strain levels (10%, 14%, 17%) and at failure. VPSC modeling was employed to explain the observed mechanical behavior. The results will elucidate how build orientation affects mechanical properties and texture variations, providing insights for optimizing EBM-produced Ti-6Al-4V components. |
