Abstract Scope |
Metal additive manufacturing is one of the promising next-generation metalworking processes that offer a high degree of freedom in product shape. However, the degree of freedom in material selection is very limited due to the complicated demanding conditions of the feedstock metal powder. In order to effectively increase the degree of freedom in material selection, it is necessary to actively control the physical properties using reinforcement. However, in additive manufacturing of composites, it is difficult to manufacture feedstock powder using the conventional methods, so only huge or nano-sized reinforcements are used. An innovative method for manufacturing composite powder was developed in this study to fabricate practical metal composite powder feedstock for additive manufacturing. Various composite powders were manufactured using the developed technology, and the additive manufacturing behavior of these composite powders was analyzed. |
