Abstract Scope |
Soft magnetic composites(SMCs) with lower power loss and higher magnetic permeability are essential for energy-efficient and high-performance devices as its applications have rapidly expanded. The key to minimize power loss in SMCs lies in the effective electrical insulation on metallic surfaces to restrict eddy currents. Conventional insulation methods, such as in-liquid coating or ball milling, have shown potential for reducing power loss. These approaches, however, often lead a deterioration of the magnetic property due to outbreaking defects and difficulties in controlling structural characteristics of insulation layer. This study introduces advanced sputter coating for SMCs, offering a uniform coating with precisely controlled thickness on the surface of powders. Notably, designated insulation layers substantially curtail power loss at high frequencies while enhancing the inherent magnetic properties of SMCs. This research suggest sputtering-based coating provide a robust solution to the challenges posed by traditional coating methods, significantly improving the magnetic performance of SMCs. |
