On-Site Speaker (Planned) Hui Sun
Abstract Scope China has a considerable amount of biomass resources, which have huge potential for exploiting as energy sources. Due to diverse attributes, spread distributions and limited available treatment processes, the energy utilization rate is low and waste severe. The carbonization treatment can effectively increase the calorific value, expand the utilization pathways and improve the utilization rate of the biomass, arouse widespread interest in recent years. The carbonization treatment methods mainly include pyrolysis carbonization process, hydrothermal carbonization process, and pressure changing flash evaporation process. In the study, the basic theories and developments of the three carbonization processes, the basic physical and chemical properties, industrial application status and economic feasibility of the biochar prepared are discussed and analyzed respectively. Furthermore, the possibility and the restrictive factors faced of the biochar as substitute fuel of coal in blast furnace injection are discussed also in the field of ironmaking.
