Abstract Scope |
Nanowires are grown into the cavities of nanoporous anodic alumina oxide molds through grain boundary and interface diffusion by applying pressure and elevated temperature. By restricting the lateral deformation of our feedstock, we create nanowire arrays that can be mapped to their non-distorted pre-nanomolding microstructure. The effects of pressure and temperature on interface diffusion and microstructure evolution of both simple and alloy feedstocks are investigated. These results will enable the characterization and mapping of localized deformations within a material at the microstructural level. |
