Abstract Scope |
There is a growing body of literature on ferrite growth kinetics in ternary and quaternary iron alloys. The experimentally measured growth kinetics can be described by a number of models account for solute interactions with the moving interface. A common feature of these models is the need to include the binding energy of the solute to the interphase boundary. In this contribution, existing experimental data has been reviewed with the goal of developing a database of binding energies that are consistent with ternary and quaternary ferrite growth kinetics as well as solute segregation levels at the ferrite/austenite interface as quantified by atom probe tomography. The database explicitly takes into account the intrinsic interaction of each solute (including C) with the interface as well as the interactions between solutes. |
