Abstract Scope |
Twin roll casting is a low-cost process with low carbon emissions and energy consumption. Due to center segregation and surface defects during casting, it has been mainly used to manufacture low-alloy and low-strength aluminum sheets. Recently, a new technology has been developed to manufacture high-strength aluminum alloy sheets with a large amount of alloy elements through improvements in molten metal cooling devices and control of various process variables. Compared to the manufacturing process of existing aluminum alloy sheets, phase size and distribution can be controlled due to the fast cooling rate during casting, making it possible to manufacture high-strength aluminum alloy sheets with a fine structure and uniform distribution of crystallized phases. We would like to introduce a new technology that can produce a variety of high-alloy aluminum alloy sheets and the excellent mechanical properties of the sheets manufactured using this technology. |
