Abstract Scope |
The steel industry produces a large amount of steel dust and mud every year, which contains abundant valuable metals such as iron, zinc, etc. Biomass belongs to a ‘zero carbon’ emission resource and is currently widely used in the metallurgical field. This paper proposes using biomass char instead of coke powder as a reducing agent for the treatment of iron and zinc containing dust in the rotary hearth furnace (RHF) process. Thermodynamic and experimental research on the reduction roasting mechanism of RHF process were conducted. The effect of different types of biomass char on the Fe metallization and dezincification ratio of iron and zinc containing dust during the reduction roasting process were investigated. The experimental results revealed that biomass char is better than that of coke breeze for the reduction of iron oxides and dezincification, and the removal of sodium is easier than that of potassium. |
