Abstract Scope |
The Amazon region faces a major obstacle caused by the high production of various natural fibers, such as açaí (Euterpe oleracea). There is still no specific and consolidated destination for the agro-industrial waste generated in the different stages of processing of Amazonian fibers and in high quantities, causing environmental changes in the region. Furthermore, it is known that the use of these fibers can promote ductile behavior and tensile strength in cementitious compounds. In order to contribute to an efficient destination for agro-industrial waste generated in the Amazon region, this work aimed to evaluate the application of açaí fibers as materials for reinforcement in coating mortars. Tests were carried out in the fresh state in addition to a rheological evaluation. The results were promising for the application of natural fiber in mortars. |
