Abstract Scope |
This study highlights recent advancements in sustainable strategies for recovering cladding from spent nuclear fuel, as well as improved reactor design considerations. Novel approaches such as laser ablation, chemical dissolution, pyrochemical processing, and electrochemical methods offer promising solutions for cladding recovery while reducing material loss and waste generation. Furthermore, improved reactor designs incorporating enhanced materials, coatings, and structural considerations help mitigate cladding degradation and simplify recovery processes. These combined efforts contribute to the safe and efficient utilization of nuclear energy while minimizing environmental impact. |
