Abstract Scope |
The plastic response of advanced materials to complex loadings involving combination of axial and torsional loadings is of great interest for various forming processes. In this paper, we present analytical and numerical results that point to the fact that the tension-compression asymmetry for uniaxial loadings observed in certain steels and predominantly in hcp materials may lead to unusual behavior for loadings involving combinations of uniaxial and shear loadings. The analysis is done using the CPB06 criterion that accounts for tension-compression asymmetry. It is expected that the new results presented will guide in improved interpretation and data analysis for both laboratory tests and industrial processes. |
