Abstract Scope |
A survey of current additive manufacturing (AM) processes for Ti6Al4V titanium alloy components was conducted. The resulting AM sample mechanical properties (pre- and post-processed) as well as microstructure and porosity, for each AM process used were compared to one another. The mechanical properties were also compared to published wrought Ti6Al4V property data. General AM Process-specific issues in printing this alloy are also addressed. AM processes reviewed include Selective Laser Melting (SLM), Electron Beam Melting (EBM), Powder Based Direct Energy Deposition (DED), Additive Friction Stir Processing (FSP), and Cold Spray (CS). |
