Abstract Scope |
We develop a three-dimensional (3D) phase-field model to simulate and understand mesoscopic grain evolution during extreme grain deformation and recrystallization in friction stir processing (FSP). The evolution of dislocation density is modeled using the Laasraoui-Jonas (LJ) model, where nucleation is determined by the magnitude of dislocation energy, and dynamic recrystallization (DRX) grain growth is integrated into the phase-field framework. The synergy between these models provides valuable insights into the material's behavior and microstructural changes. To enhance efficiency and practicality, the calculations are performed on the JAX GPU computing platform, significantly increasing computational capacity and enabling a more accurate and detailed representation of grain evolution during FSP. |
