Abstract Scope |
This talk will provide an overview of progress the PRISMS Center has made in development and dissemination of an advanced framework for accelerating predictive materials science. A special focus in this talk will be the use of this framework to develop an understanding of the influence of alloying and processing on texture evolution in Mg alloys. Development of Mg alloy sheet that can be formed into complex shapes at moderate temperatures is an important engineering challenge and designing alloys and processes that accomplish that requires new scientific insights. The PRISMS Center Texture Evolution Use case team is combining theory, simulation and experiments to improve our understanding of alloying effects on texture evolution during sheet rolling with a focus on deformation texture formation and texture evolution due to recrystallization during post-deformation annealing of Mg-Zn-Ca alloys. Use of the advanced PRISMS open-source software is central to this effort and will be described. |
