Abstract Scope |
Newly commercialized the martensitic hot stamping (or press hardening) steels over 1.0GPa for automotive have been investigated to enhance high bendability (i.e. higher crashworthiness to protect cabin zone in car body). Recently, optimization of the chemical composition, heating process, and quenching temperature was performed to obtained higher mechanical properties in terms of higher micro-scale bendability under the martensitic unit microstructures. Nanoindentation hardness of individual phases in a localized zone of martensite and bainite was investigated in order to obtain a better understanding of how dislocation plasticity is influenced as a high bendability by crystalline defects. The results are discussed in terms of the influence on bendability of unit microstructure and the prevailing mechanism of size dependent plastic deformation. |
