Abstract Scope |
Additive Manufacturing (AM) of silicon nitride using UV-curable slurries for stereolithography continues to draw interest for the fabrication of complex shaped ceramic components for high temperature applications. The complexity and control of macro features as well as surface roughness lower than most techniques are advantageous, but the high refractive index of Si3N4 can make it difficult to obtain cure depths for printing. Thus, slurries for printing dark material are formulated. The slurry formulations and development follow the same rules as traditional ceramics processing. Here, various powder sizes, solids loading, dispersants, and photoinitiators are used and the effects on rheology, cure depth, and zeta potential are shown. Debinding and sintering is done to show efficacy of the prints to full density. Microstructures of printed and sintered samples will be shown. |
