Abstract Scope |
The development of maraging steel have found numerous applications in the areas of aircraft industries, rocket motor cases, medical equipments, etc. The thermal aging of the material results in the formation of intermetallic compounds contributing to its higher strength. The mechanical characterization to study deformation behavior, true material response at quasi-static, and high strain rate is very essential for mapping the constitutive material properties. The quasi-static tensile testing is carried out using universal testing machine while high strain rate tensile testing is performed using in-house developed Split Hopkinson Bar Setup. The consistency and reliability of the results is established by testing materials from three different thickness plates. The dynamic stress-strain response of maraging steel is recorded which will help in developing a constituent model for the accurate numerical simulations for dynamic loading of these materials. |
