Abstract Scope |
Worlds necessity to find alternative feedstocks and consideration of production efficiency of aluminum alloys yield in substituting critical raw materials by increasing scrap content in liquid aluminum. The research focuses on evaluating the viability and efficiency of utilizing scrap materials as substitutes for critical raw materials specifically magnesium (Mg) and silicon (Si), in the production of 6xxx aluminum alloys. According to the experimental set-up of this research comparison of recycled 6063 and 6082 alloys and the alloys produced with primary ingots with respect to chemical, metallographic and mechanical analyzes has been conducted. The evaluation of the spectral analysis, optical microscopy images, tensile tests and fractography analysis with SEM results in discussion of above-mentioned properties of the 6063 and 6082 alloys with different variants. Also, the extrusion feasibility analysis of the alloys with increased recycling ratio has been performed with QForm simulation software. |
