Abstract Scope |
Sandwich single cantilever beam (SCB) test has attracted attention as one of the best candidates for evaluating the debond fracture toughness between face sheet and core in sandwich panels under mode 1 type loading. To theoretically analyze the sandwich SCB test specimen, a beam on elastic foundation model has been proposed. In a previous study, to take into account the geometrical nonlinearity, a theoretical analysis method which incorporates the elastica solution into the beam on elastic foundation model is proposed and the validity of the method is investigated. However, this study is limited to isotropic materials. In this study, the proposed theoretical analysis method is applied to the case where the faceplate consists of a CFRP laminate (orthotropic material) and the core consists of a honeycomb (orthotropic material). Then, the validity of the proposed theoretical analysis method is confirmed by comparing it with finite element analysis. The result of the proposed theoretical analysis which dose not include the geometrical nonlinearity of the core deformation shows some agreement with that of finite element analysis. Furthermore, when the geometrical nonlinearity of the core deformation is taken into account, the result of a theoretical analysis agrees very well with that of finite element analysis. |
