Abstract Scope |
Recently sand binder jetting has become one of the most up-and-coming processes in casting technology and has individual geometries made possible to produce. Due to process-related limitations in terms of speed and shape accuracy, the process is only of limited interest for industrial applications that require high recoating speeds and precise components. The experimental measurement of the recoating forces has so far been realized in the recoating direction. Support in the z-direction is provided by air bearings on a glass plate, which enables friction-free sliding. In the y-direction, the forces are supported by spring wires, which form a mass-spring-damper system. A laser distance meter and the equation of motion are used to quantify the recoating forces. Based on a test setup, the measured forces are linked to the component quality. It is also planned to measure the forces in the z-direction to understand the kinetics behind the layer displacement. |
