Abstract Scope |
During cooling process of continuously cast steel slabs, thermal gradient and phase transformation can cause stress development. Depending on the steel compositions and cooling conditions, high stress levels and residual stresses can be attained. In this study, a three-dimensional finite volume thermal-mechanical model coupled with transient heat transfer and phase transformation is developed. The model can predict stress development, temperature history, and phase distribution during steel slabs cooling process. The stress development of steels with different phase transformation behavior and hardenability is simulated and discussed in terms of composition and processing history. |
