Abstract Scope |
Semi-solid deformation frequently occurs during casting, causing solidification defects such as segregation and pore. Because semi-solid deformation of alloys is an invisible, high-temperature, and complex phenomenon including solid-liquid phase transformation, solid-solid mechanical contact, and liquid flow, it is not straightforward to observe those phenomena in the bulk state. Therefore, numerical simulation study is essential to understand and control the semi-solid deformation during casting. In this study, we develop the phase-field lattice Boltzmann method to simulate the uniaxial compression of granular solid-liquid mixture. Through the uniaxial compression simulations, we investigate the fundamental mechanical behaviors of semi-solid deformation. |
