Abstract Scope |
Climate change signs are more obvious every day. While the Aluminium industry is not the largest GHG emitter, it does contribute to it. There is now a strong momentum to decarbonize the aluminium industry to meet regulatory and customer requirements. Constellium whose activity is to transform aluminium scrap into high end products for the packaging, auto and aerospace sectors has engaged into a multi-year program to reduce CO2 emissions from its operations, and particularly its casthouses.
This paper will present some of the on-going initiatives to reduce direct emissions (scope 1) from melting furnaces and indirect emissions (scope 3) through the increase of the recycling content of the alloys that are produced. |
