Abstract Scope |
Ornamental rocks, whether of natural or artificial origin, play a crucial role in the construction and decoration industry due to their aesthetics and durability. However, like other ceramic materials, these rocks are susceptible to damage and wear when exposed to adverse conditions, such as high humidity and acidic substances. These factors can compromise the structural integrity and appearance of rocks, reducing their useful life and commercial value. To mitigate these effects, this study investigates the effectiveness of different methods of protecting and waterproofing natural limestone rocks. Specifically, the work compares the performance of epoxy and polyurethane resins in protecting these rocks. Limestone rock samples will be subjected to treatment with these resins and compared to untreated samples to assess the extent of protection offered. Based on the results, it can be stated that the protection was effective in protecting the limestone pieces, even improving flexural resistance. |
