Abstract Scope |
The focus of this research is a comprehensive analysis of the shear connection effect on fiber glass reinforced composite beams. The study delves into the intricate properties of materials such as concrete and fiber glass reinforced composite to ascertain their behavior under varying shear conditions. Experimental evaluations of shear connection were conducted through rigorous push-out tests at the Centre of Research and Innovation in Construction, housed within the Technical University of Košice. Two distinct types of connectors were tested on composite beams to assess their efficacy and performance. The overarching objective of this investigation is to explore the viability of alternative materials capable of replacing traditional steel connectors. By doing so, the research aims to contribute to the ongoing evolution of material engineering by designing connectors optimized for fiber reinforced composite materials or other emerging composite variants. In addition to experimental assessments, Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis plays a pivotal role in this study. Through sophisticated modeling techniques, FEM analysis provides valuable insights into the structural behavior and performance of the tested connectors under varying loading conditions. This interdisciplinary research endeavor bridges the gap between experimental testing and computational simulations, offering a holistic understanding of shear connection mechanisms in fiber glass reinforced composite beams. The findings of this study not only advance our knowledge of composite material behavior but also pave the way for the development of innovative connector designs tailored to the specific demands of modern construction and engineering applications. |
