Abstract Scope |
High- and medium-entropy alloys are an intriguing new class of materials valued for their unique combination of primarily mechanical properties. However, alloys based on ferromagnetic elements belong to a special class of these materials. The Fe-Co-Ni-based medium entropy alloys have been prepared by combining mechanical alloying and spark plasma sintering. Wide-angle X-ray diffractometry, X-ray microanalyses, thermal analyses, transmission electron microscopy observations, tensile testing and magnetic measurements have characterized the properties. After spark plasma sintering densification, a full density of the bulk products has been achieved. The microstructure was composed of a major FCC phase and minor secondary precipitates. All the measured properties have been gathered to show their evaluation in the function of the Ti amount at a limited presence of B element. |
