Abstract Scope |
A review of the coating processes used in creating engineering surfaces for use in harsh environments. Coatings are used to protect against chemical attack, oxidation, and physical distress. Processes such as chemical vapor deposition, physical vapor deposition, thermal spray, slurry, pack cementation and others will be discussed. Advantages and disadvantages of each process will be examined and compared with the other techniques. Different types of coatings will also be discussed, and why some processes may be more suitable to process certain types of coatings. Applications of coatings to industries such as power generation gas turbines, aeroengines, aerospace structures, hypersonic structures, and nuclear energy will be considered. |
