Metastable β-Titanium alloys have the advantage of altering the microstructure through heat treatment to achieve desired mechanical properties, enabling diverse industrial applications. To fabricate high-strength metastable β-titanium alloys, it is crucial to finely precipitate α within the β matrix. In this process, the interface between metastable ω and β functions as key precursors that induce α precipitation. However, this α precipitation process typically requires a lengthy heat treatment to sufficiently grow the ω. In this study, we aimed to reduce the time required for ω growth and accelerate the strengthening process of Ti-V alloys by applying electric current treatment instead of the conventional heat treatment process. Using transmission electron microscope, we analyzed the microstructure of specimens subjected to various conditions of electric current treatment and heat treatment and compared the mechanical properties of the specimens under each condition. Consequently, electric current treatment demonstrated efficiency in promoting the ω growth. |
