Abstract Scope |
Most Thermal Spray coatings service providers expect OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to suggest coating equipment, starting parameters, gases, robot programs and robot parameters for a certain coating process. The specification that the process would need to comply would be very tight in terms of microstructural features. Mechanical properties such as tensile strength, hardness and erosion would as well be a stringent requirement to meet. The presentation discusses thermal spray process parameter development journey that includes equipment choice, robot and spray parameters and how to ease the concern of multiple iterations using digital tools to get to the end solution. Parameter development needs to be repeatable for Quality control and sustainable towards preventing material wastage. Hence, the presenter would like to share some tricks from his industrial experience to get repeatable and reproducible spray parameters that are easy to manufacture. |
