Abstract Scope |
DC-casting process models are highly advanced and have been used for decades to optimize casting technology and parameters. Modern DC-casting lines are fully automated with complex control systems, typically including a main PLC communicating with multiple PLCs, sensors for data measurement, databases with recipes, trending software, and user interfaces. Due to the complexity, full FAT or program tests before shipping are often not possible.
Hycast has developed digital twins for complete casting lines to enable pre-shipping program tests and virtual commissioning. These digital twins replicate all relevant equipment and sensors, providing real-time data to the control system. This setup allows for virtual casts, saving several man-weeks during on-site commissioning. Additionally, digital twins can be used for future optimization of casting lines. Examples of virtual commissioning of new casting lines are detailed in the paper. |
