Abstract Scope |
Cu and Cu-based alloys are used in applications, which require excellent mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and electrical conductivity. Addition of alloying elements improves the strength of Cu. This study was conducted to enhance the mechanical properties of Cu by adding Ti or Cr. The composites were sintered by a SPS under 40 MPa at 850℃. The phase analysis of Cu-Ti composite showed that Cu3Ti was detected when the Ti content was over 4 wt.%. Another secondary phase was not detected in case of Cu-Cr composites. Vickers hardness of Cu-Ti and Cr composites increased from 60.2 to 205.2 and from 48.2 to 64.7 kg/mm2, respectively according to increase the additive contents. Additive particles suppressed the grain growth of the Cu, which contributed to the improvement of the hardness. Furthermore, thermal conductivity as a function of the additive content, which is the most important indicator of this study, was systematically investigated. |
