Abstract Scope |
The anomalous properties of actinide and lanthanide intermetallics results from the fact that the f-states partially preserve their atomic character while giving rise to strongly renormalized bands. As a results, one observes a plethora of unusual states at low temperatures. In this talk I will present recent results on the unusual ordered phase in the normal state of CeRh2As2 that may involve higher-order multipoles. The interplay of the latter and the Kondo effect might have to be reconsidered. In addition, I will discuss consequences of the interplay between band formation and the presence of atomic multiplets in actinides. |
