Abstract Scope |
Prediction of mechanical properties within structural alloys and components is of great interest to the aerospace industry for purposes of alloy and component design optimization. Such efforts and resultant capabilities have linked the underlying microstructure that results from evolution during thermo-mechanical processing. The path dependency of microstructure evolution results in component location-specific distributions of both microstructure and mechanical properties. Models have been developed to predict the path dependency of various microstructural features in titanium, such as texture, grain size, and phase fraction of constituent phases. Models have also been established to predict both static and dynamic properties with both physics-based analytical models, and data-driven machine learning tools. The presentation will provide an overview of current capabilities and opportunities for the future. |
