Abstract Scope |
The recently developed TRIP/TWIP metastable beta Ti and Zr alloys demonstrate significant potential for use in biomedical implant applications. These alloys benefit from the intrinsic high biocompatibility, low magnetic susceptibility, and superior mechanical performance of Ti and Zr metals. The development of Bio-TWIP Ti and Zr alloys focuses on utilizing only non-toxic elements to activate the TWIP mechanism in the metastable BCC phase. This TWIP effect enhances the strain-hardening rate and stability of plastic flow. This presentation will introduce our latest findings on Bio-TWIP Ti and Zr alloys, including design strategies, mechanical properties, and deformation mechanisms. Notably, these new alloys exhibit promising properties for use in cardiovascular stents and orthopedic applications. |
