Abstract Scope |
The aluminum industry is facing a significant scrap squeeze, driven by rising demand, shifting trade policies, and sustainability commitments. In this talk, Michael Hamm of Constellium will explore the current state of aluminum scrap availability and the challenges posed by insufficient supply. While bottle bills have proven effective in incentivizing aluminum can collection, other scrap types require different solutions.
This session will discuss alternative approaches, including improved sorting technologies, enhanced recycling infrastructure, and policy initiatives aimed at increasing post-consumer and post-industrial scrap recovery. Additionally, strategies for optimizing closed-loop recycling systems and fostering partnerships across the supply chain will be examined.
As the industry works to balance sustainability goals with economic realities, innovative solutions will be key to securing a stable, high-quality scrap supply. Attendees will gain insights into practical and forward-thinking strategies to navigate the evolving aluminum recycling landscape. |
