Abstract Scope |
Sm2Fe17N3 compound is one of the promising next-generation permanent magnet materials due to high anisotropy field (26 kOe) and high saturation magnetization (163 emu/g). Recently, Toyota motor corporation filed a patent claiming a possibility that the saturation magnetization of Sm2Fe17N3 compound can be improved by addition of small amount of La, Ce and Co has been reported. Later, our research group properly nitrided the Ce-doped Sm2Fe17 by using the mixture gas of hydrogen and ammonia and reported highly improved 170 emu/g of saturation magnetization for (Sm0.78Ce0.22)2Fe17N3. Although this high magnetization cannot be maintained after pulverization processes, the room temperature magnetic properties of a sintered magnet has been already reported elsewhere; Hc = 7.9 kOe, (BH)max = 18 MGOe. In this work, the magnetic properties of this sintered magnet at higher temperature range was investigated. Also, the microstructures of the pulverized powder and sintered compacts were investigated by transmission electron microscopy. |
