Abstract Scope |
This talk will review the advancements, difficulties and outstanding areas of research made in explicit three-dimensional finite element mesoscale modelling of generic highly filled composite polymer bonded explosives. The presentation will highlight the basis of the two-phase system approach, including efforts to both generate a simulated microstructure and obtain representative images of example composite materials.
Constitutive material specific characterisation and material modelling efforts will also be discussed as will the complexity of the interface between the two phases of the model. Finally, model validation activities alongside lessons learnt will also be discussed.
