Abstract Scope |
Semiconducting quantum dots (QDs) and nanocrystals possess a size-dependent bandgap and unique optoelectronic properties. Coating QDs with a ultrathin layer together with embedding the QDs in inert particles can not only modify optical properties but also improve chemical stability. In this work, we have fabricated selenide-based QDs using two approaches, i.e. in an aqueous solution with capping and reducing agents, and in an organic solution via microemulsion followed by the hydrothermal treatment. The as-prepared QDs were subsequenctly coated with a thin layer of SiO2 or embedded into SiO2 microsphere. The effect of synthesis conditions, different dopants, and coating components were systematically accessed. |
