Abstract Scope |
The process of gallium extraction from fly ash produces a large amount of acidic wastewater. The presence of Fe3+ and heavy metal ions in the wastewater makes it impossible to return to the fly ash leaching process for recycling. In this study, 2-octanol diluted with sulphonated kerosene was used to extract Fe3+ from the acidic wastewater. To achieve the separation of Fe3+ from the solution, a six-stage counter-current batch simulation test was conducted under the conditions of O/A=2/1, 25˚C, 5min, 4.5 mol/L of HCl, resulting in the extraction efficiencies of Fe3+ as above 99%. Over 99.9% of Fe3+ could be stripped in a six-stage counter-current batch simulation test using 0.1 mol/L HCl. The mechanism of Fe3+ extraction using 2-octanol was discussed according to FT-IR spectra results. |
