Abstract Scope |
This study presents a comparative analysis of beneficiation techniques, namely the Airfloat Gravity Separator and a combination of High-Intensity Magnetic Separator (HIMS) and Tilt Table Shaker, for upgrading cassiterite ore extracted from Kano State, Nigeria. Utilizing X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis, the ore composition shows a tin content of 9.352% alongside other elemental constituents. Liberation size analysis identified the optimal size range of -210+180µm for effective tin recovery. The Airfloat Gravity Separator resulted in a tin concentrate with an improved grade of 26.534% Sn, achieving a recovery rate of 63.575%. The combination of HIMS and Tilt Table Shaker yielded a higher tin grade of 34.234% Sn, with an impressive recovery rate of 82.024%. Based on the comparative analysis, it is evident that the HIMS and Tilt Table Shaker technique exhibited superior performance in terms of both tin grade and recovery, offering valuable insights into efficient cassiterite ore beneficiation for potential smelting. |
