Abstract Scope |
In this study, we compared two software programs (one commercial and one open-source) for the numerical simulation of a multiphase flow involving water, oil, and air within a physical model of a ladle furnace used in secondary steel refining. The simulation results were compared and validated against photograms of the oil aperture in the physical model. The findings revealed that the fluid dynamic structures produced by both software programs are very similar; however, there are differences in the structure of the oil aperture and the percentage area of exposed water between the two. |
