Molten LiF-BeF2 (FLiBe) solutions are proposed in several technologies of small modular molten salt nuclear reactors (MSR). While several thermodynamics assessments have been published with different thermodynamic models for the molten phase, very few have addressed the problematic of dissolved impurities: corrosion products under the form of transition metals fluorides (NiF2) have also been assessed, but non-fluoride impurities are missing. This paper proposes a thermodynamic assessment based on the Modified Quasichemical Model in the Quadruplet Approximation (MQMQA) where oxides (Li2O,BeO) and hydrogen species in reducing (hydrides), neutral (dissolved H2) and oxidizing (dissolved HF and H2O) conditions are introduced in the model, calibrated from available experimental data. |
