Abstract Scope |
With the increase of pollution day by day, the role of food products packaging is becoming vital. Due to the burning of various petrochemical packaging, harmful gases are evolved, which not only detrimentally affect the air also destroys the sea life. Most of the plastic packaging can be recycled, e.g., egg containers and butter tubs. But its challenging to apply thin plastic films for cheese packaging. To resolve this issue, a biodegradable packaging film was synthesized from a milk protein called casein. Casein, Citrus Pectin, Glycerol and Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) were used to synthesize this film. In this work, we have reported the successful development of milk protein based film having appreciable biodegradable behavior. Synthesized biodegradable films were characterized using microscopy and thermogravimetry mainly. It was affirmed that such films have propensity to be employed for cheese and butter packaging. |
