Abstract Scope |
Despite its exceptional efficacy, operating principle of magnetic materials in the active magnetic regenerative (AMR) – type cycle is not thoroughly understood. Especially, gap is stark between thermodynamical design and materials performance. There is no isothermal field-induced segment in an ideal AMR cycle, while the materials benchmark is still compared with isothermal field induced entropy change ΔSM. Also, only the temperature change of material is measured for an adiabatic process, and the information for magnetic state change is neglected in general. In this study, the initial/final magnetic states of the adiabatic process were observed by adopting the AC susceptibility technique, and their positions on a S-T diagram were assigned. Characteristic feature appeared under the adiabatic process different from the equilibrium process. The transient passes of the magnetic state were predicted by using the Landau expansion model. Further magnetic state change during hot/cold brow following the adiabatic process was also detected. |
