Abstract Scope |
Modern steel industry in Japan started at the end of 19 century and academic societies such as ISIJ were founded about twenty years later. Institute for Materials Research (IMR) in Tohoku University was founded in 1916 for pursuing scientific and engineering research on iron and steels. Now despite of more broadened research areas, the institute still continues to exploring this important field.
In this talk, the history of steel research in IMR over 100 years is explained in relation to the development of steel technology in Japan. |
